CALLLING ALL AABC ALUMNI!

Greetings from everyone at The All-American Boys Chorus!  2010 marks the 40th Anniversary of the AABC, and we’re working hard to put together a fantastic gala concert for Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Crystal Cathedral!

The concert is titled, “God Bless America!” and we’re really counting on your participation to make it into an awesome 40th anniversary for the Chorus.

We're having new arrangements done for four songs that will include the Alumni singing with the current Chorus.

And . . . we’re going to feature the alumni singing (by themselves) “The Impossible Dream.”  Forty years ago The All-American Boys Chorus was an “impossible dream”, or at least we were told it was by many people.  And now, 40 years later, thanks to your hard work and the hard work and sacrifices of hundreds of alumni, the AABC is a world-class institution.  What better song for the alumni to sing?

Another vision we have for the concert is to get as many alumni as possible on stage doing the Marches choralagraphy with the boys.  Imagine having 100, 200, 300 or more alumni on stage, plus the 80 boys in the Concert Chorus.  What a sight!  And all of them doing the Marches Choralography.

But in order to feature the alumni well, and we’ll only do it if we can do it well—we need your commitment and that of at least 39 other alumni.

Click here to download the commitment form that lists the rehearsals for the concert.  One of the rehearsals will be at the summer music camp in Claremont, where we hope you’ll come to both rehearse and also have dinner (on us)—a sort of alumni reunion!

Please make time in your busy schedule to participate in this “once in 40 years concert.”  Call your AABC alumni friends and get them to attend with you.  It’ll be fun and exciting, and you’ll be an inspiration to the boys currently in the Chorus and to the audience!

Our best,

Tony Manrique, Executive Director

Wesley Martin, Music Director

P.S.  We’ll make learning the music easy!  We’ll send sheet music (or PDFs) and CDs or MP3s so you can practice before the rehearsals.

MEET OUR NEWEST ALUMNI!

On Sat. January 30th, we proudly welcomed our December graduates into our Alumni Soceity in our "alumni shirt" ceremony, which followed the end of the Grand Rehearsal.

Congratulations to AABC Alumnus Gabe Ayala ('97) on his wedding to Michele Phillips on May 9th.

Gabe was an AABC staff member from 2001 to 2006 and was also the Lighting Director for our 2008 summer tour of  Asia.

We were honored to sing at the wedding ceremony . . .

. . . and our boys were honored to take a photo with the Meats Brothers quartet at the Interfaith Choir Festival held on November 15th in Aliso Viejo, CA.  Pictured below, with the boys, are Andy Meats ('99), D.J. Meats ('98), Rusty Meats, and Jeremy Meats ('98)

. . . and here are some of the boys with AABC Alumnus Cam LaMarca ('83) after the Chorus sang at The Crossings in Corona.
