A bit tired after an earlier than usual wake-up following a late night, we were greeted by another spectacular morning in the Canadian Rockies.
A quick breakfast, loading of the bus, followed by our departure for one of the top scenic spots in the world . . . Lake Louise.
Upon arrival at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise we disembarked and headed out to the boat house. We formed up into teams of one staff/parent and 2 boys and we started loading up the canoes and striking out for the far shore.
Each canoe was on the water for an hour. Everyone had a great time and there were even a couple of \”races\”.
After the canoes, the boys and staff members had a bit of time to hit the shops in the Chateau Lake Louise and walk around and snap a few photos. There were beautiful vistas in every direction, but the lake and it\’s glacial backdrop constantly draw one\’s attention.
We finished up our time at Lake Louise with our traditional group photo.
Then we were off across the valley to the Lake Louise Gondola for a buffet lunch and a 14 minute ride up to the Interpretive Center.
The view at the Center was of the mountain range that contains Lake Louise and it was truly breathtaking.
We visited the Center, viewed a short film about the grizzly bear, and broke into three groups to go on a 30-minute hike (accompanied by a ranger) out on the mountain.
On the way down on the gondolas we were fortunate enough to see a grizzly bear!
A great final day in the Canadian Rockies. Upon arrival at the base station, we boarded the AABC bus for our trip into Calgary.
