Today we slept in a bit, and then headed to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel for breakfast. We arrived a little early and the boys went on a quick tour of this fabled building. They saw the Mount Stephen Hall where tonight\’s concert will take place, and then stopped in at the Riverview Lounge (which the AABC calls \”The Million Dollar View\”).
Breakfast was fabulous! A superb assortment of delicious items beautifully displayed. What a treat!
Then it was time for some big-time shopping in Banff . . .
. . . followed by a quick lunch, and then a return to our hotel to pack concert items and then to the Banff Springs Hotel for the load-in, sound check, rehearsal.
There was some free time to wander about the hotel, and the ghost stories that have been passed down via oral tradition since the 1970\’s were recalled and re-told as the boys saw first-hand the various places, rooms and hallways that comprise the tales.
There\’s something about the Mount Stephen Hall – the ambiance, the acoustics, perhaps the crisp high mountain air – that makes AABC concerts in that venue something very special. Tonight was no exception. A truly enthusiastic and happy crowd combined with a superb performance by the boys to produce a lovely \”experience\”.
The concert capped a great day in Banff.
