Alumni Spotlight – Jason Switzer (\’93)

American baritone Jason Switzer recently performed the Four Villains LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN with Connecticut Lyric Opera as well as Meru LES HUGUENOTS with the Bard Music Festival and Capulet ROMEO ET JULIETTE with both Utah Opera and Opera Tampa. He also sang the title role of NABUCCO, which was performed in concert with the Coro Lirico of New Jersey. Recent European engagements include Don Magnifico LA CENERENTOLA with Lyrique en Mer as well as Bernstein’s CANDIDE with Musikfest Bremen, the Munich Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. Eager to explore contemporary works, he has been heard in THE TELL TALE HEART, VAN GOGH and THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY as well as world premieres of THE ALWAYS PRESENT PRESENT, DANSE RUSSE, and SLAYING THE DRAGON.

Jason is a two time national semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.  He also received the top prize in the Sullivan Foundation\’s annual competition as well as first prize in the Bel Canto Vocal Scholarship Competition.

Jason is a 1993 graduate of the All American Boys Chorus and also a graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia (’05) and California State University Long Beach (’00).
